Samu social de Paris has launched a new campaign to raise awareness for the difficulties homeless women face. Women make up 22% of France's homeless population. In the capital, women's homelessness has risen by 66% in one year.
Every night, three out of four homeless women in Paris are left to sleep on the streets, in night busses, or in waiting rooms of hospitals. Sleeping rough is particularly dangerous for women. Those who manage to get a bed in a shelter find themselves sleeping in an accommodation not adapted to the needs of women.
