In November 2022, FEANTSA became a partner in the Global Campaign to Decriminalise Poverty and Status.
Previously known as the Campaign to Decriminalise Petty Offences in Africa, the campaign is a coalition of organisations advocating for the repeal of laws targeting people based on status (social, political, or economic), or for their activism. Part of the campaign focuses on the decriminalisation of homelessness and poverty - such as their 2019 campaign #PoorNotGuilty.
FEANTSA has a history of raising awareness over, and denouncing, the penalisation and criminalisation of homelessness within Europe (see our 2012 campaign Poverty is Not a Crime, or Spring 2020 Magazine 'The Criminalisation of Homelessness').
Partnering with the Global Campaign to Decriminalise Poverty and Status will allow us to continue this work, and foster greater global connections in the fight for the decriminalisation of homelessness.
