Samu Social Paris cannot respond to the increasing demand for (temporary) accomodation of homeless families. In the Paris region about 12 000 families live in a hotel, as there is "no other solution". Almost half of them have been waiting for a more permanent solution for over 2 years. The lack of shelters and social housing has serious consequences. In one night, Samu Social was not able to respond to the demand of 314 households, representing 988 people (of wich 514 are children).
