According to NGO La Strada, the number of homeless people in Brussels has almost doubled in the last ten years. In order to tackle this issue, 80 Brussels-based organisations have grouped together to call for a true end to homelessness in the city by launching the Right to a Roof Campaign. The campaign stresses the need for all public actors to work together to fight homelessness in Belgium's capital. Homelessness cannot be tackled when civil society organisations do not receive enough funding, have to compete for funds and cannot share their expertise with public actors, Moreover, the NGO wished to draw attention to the serious lack of social housing and preventive policies in Brussels.
