In the report published by the French National Observatory of Poverty and Social Exclusion on the 2nd of May it is stated that nearly 780 000 people, or about 1.2% of the metropolitan population, are excluded, in various ways, from common law housing. The report also says that approximately 231 000 people are located on the border between common law housing and total homelessness, living in makeshift temporary shelters such as mobile homes, ruined houses, and temporary constructions.
