On the 29th of June, the UN Human Rights Regional Office for Europe published their report into the state of housing, and the associated human rights concerns, for Roma living in France. The report states that France contains some 570 slums, inhabited by approximately 16,000 persons, a majority of whom are Roma originating from Romania and Bulgaria. The report also describes extensive evictions of Roma carried out in France, with over 10,000 persons reportedly evicted every year since 2014, many of whom go on to face numerous repeat evictions. The press release on the report can be read here. (Also available in French)
