Shelter Scotland have released a study stating that 14,075 children were in households assessed as being homeless in 2017/18, the equivalent of 38 children becoming homeless a day. This marks the fourth consecutive year of rising homelessness in Scotland, with time spent in temporary accommodation rising by 25% for homeless families with children. Alison Watson, deputy director of Shelter Scotland, claimed "acute shortage of housing" was the source of the rising figures and that a policy of prevention was integral to containing the problem.
