Homeless people who have been through traumatic experiences often have to go through the discomfort of telling their stories repeatedly to different health professionals, which is demoralising and could dissuade the patient from using services. Services working on homelessness and health in Bristol in the UK, including psychiatric and medical services, social agencies and prisons, started sharing data in October 2016 to reduce the need for homeless people having to retell their stories. The data sharing also has the benefit of doctors having a wider picture of the patient’s health, enabling a faster and more comprehensive assessment of the next steps needed in the patient’s care.
