The ban still applies to begging at markets, but has been removed from other events held in the city, after the Court decided that this ban was arbitrary. Deliberations are ongoing concerning a begging ban in the centre of Salzburg, after it was challenged on the grounds that it could be an infringement of the principle of equality and freedom of expression.
