Employment and occupational activities are an important element of social integration. The lack or loss of employment is often one of the trigger factors that lead to homelessness. At the same time, the (re-)integration into employment or similar activities can play a key role in bringing a person who is homeless on a pathway out of poverty and social exclusion.
FEANTSA’s special focus on employment and homelessness in 2007 was in line with the clear commitment made at EU level to bring more marginalised people into employment and to treat the phenomenon of homelessness as priority on the European anti-poverty agenda.
During the course of the year, FEANTSA carried out a consultation of its member organisations on homelessness and employment. On the basis of the national reports FEANTSA produced a European Report on the issue.
