For many LGBTIQ+ people in Europe, there is a dichotomy between living their lives freely and ensuring emotional and material security, being forced to choose one over the other.

Research shows there is more prevalence of homelessness or housing instability among LGBTIQ+ people than for the rest of the population. In Europe, the latest data from the Fundamental Rights Agency indicates that almost one in five LGBTIQ+ people have experienced homelessness at least once in their lifetime.

We hope this compendium will serve as inspiration for both practitioners and non-experts who are new to the topic, but interested in knowing more. Readers will find a selection of research, policies and services from Europe and beyond, which are relevant to understand LGBTIQ+ homelessness and how best to tackle it.
